Lauren graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005. After spending a summer in Italy and France taking pictures and tips alongside the recipient of the 2005 Peggy Guggenheim Grant for photography, she landed her first job in Washington, DC, at National Geographic Traveler magazine. Her job combined two of her greatest loves — photography and travel — and encouraged her to move up within the organization to a position within National Geographic Entertainment. There, she worked on the creative team and collaborated with marketing to promote various entertainment initiatives such as home entertainment, children’s TV series, feature films, and giant screen films. Working for National Geographic — and being exposed to researchers, conservationists and explorers who are truly making a difference in this world — has profoundly changed the way she looks at herself and the world around her.

In keeping with the mission of the National Geographic Society, Lauren tries to inspire people to explore — and care about — their planet every day. She takes each opportunity that comes her way to travel to new and different places — whether it be a two-day trip to wineries in the foothills of Virginia, or a two-week adventure to Baja, Mexico — and is inspired on a daily basis by the work of her colleagues and friends.
Lauren currently resides in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC, and plays bocce and explores the local dining scene in her free time.

Very inspiring bio! This is exactly what I hope to achieve with my interdisciplinary studies/photojournalism degree!
